• A NOTE FROM PASTOR BOB CURRY-WHO I AM
AND WHAT I BELIEVE
I have
been serving the Galva Congregational Church, part time, since May of
2008.
The Church is
an Independent/Bible based Church and is not affiliated with any denomination.
I believe that the Bible is the infallible Word of God. I believe the
Bible is the only book mankind can depend on to learn about His Grace,
His Truth and His Plan of Salvation.
As the Church’s Minister, It is my objective to preach the Gospel
of Jesus Christ and make sure that we carry out his Great Commission for
the Church. And that is his command that we “…go and make
disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything
I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end
of the age.” Mt. 28:19-20.
Before beginning
my ministry here in Galva my preaching experience was very limited. I
have preached at the First Christian Church in Kewanee, IL. The Galva
Christian Church in Galva, Il.: the Putnam Christian Church in Putnam,
IL. the Morrison Christian Church in Morrison, Il.; and I served in a
six month interim ministry at St. Peter’s Evangelical Church in
Kewanee, Il.
I became a Christian in October of 1981 and I have served in various teaching
and leadership positions at the First Christian Church in Kewanee as well
as other locations.
My education includes: Studying at Lincoln Christian College and Seminary
in 1995 and 1996. I studied through the International Bible Institute
from 2000 to 2005 graduating in November of 2005. From 2005 to 2006 I
took additional classes at IBI working toward the completion of a Bachelor
of Biblical Studies Degree. I was ordained into the ministry in August
of 2007.
I worked at Hyster Company (Bomag Americas) for over 41 years, retiring
in September of 2007. I married my wife Linda, in June of 1968. We have
one daughter- Shannon-married to Pastor Mike Demastus-living in Des Moines,
Iowa. We have two grandsons-Jonathan age 16 and Jacob age 13. I enjoy
being with my family as often as I can; I enjoy home improvement projects;
I enjoy playing golf; and I enjoy playing the guitar.
I believe Our God has blessed us beyond understanding. I thank Him everyday
for the doors of opportunity he is opening. If you are reading this page

Our worship service is a true, blended service. We sing traditional hymns
played on an organ and piano. We have a choir and occasionally our Bell
Choir performs. We sing choruses and new contemporary music using guitars
and visual projection led by an enthusiastic praise team.
